Design is obviously the process. You can have a design without having the final product. Some confusion might arise because the word "design" is both a noun and a verb. You design (verb) using the process and at the end you have "a design" (noun).

The question I have is is design the process itself or the final result? The video indicates it is the process but other sources may argue it's the resulting processes of creating things (for example a new phone) such as manufactuering process and materials and issues relating to the environmental standards rather than the process that led to it such as the investigations of issues (toast) and meetings etc... Anyone have a definite on whether design is definitely the process or the result?

hey, i'm late to the scene but i just want to say this is pretty funny. the audio quality can obviously be better, but I disagree the need to get a different voice. It probably wasn't your intention, but the fact that the narrator sounded like someone whose energy is forcefully drained from making this piece adds a layer comedy overall. great job, and good luck in your future projects

A very original and nice idea. High quality of execution. yet there are some glitches designwise. The front bumper lower dark part is too much eating into the bumper, and too close to the grille.Also from sideview there are some issues. The curvature up the rear wheel arch is too close to the upper edge of the rear trunk slope. Or rather the rear trunk slope is too low and skinny. Also the front hood slope wave is unnaturally tense when observed from the side.

meh... Muscle cars are all of a sudden trying to look like the old way they were, but why would they re design it when they could just re produce an old design. Then i suppose it wouldnt be special for the owners of the real thing, but it would always be a special car. I wish some cars wouldnt ever change the way they looked, the stingray is one car i feel that way about.

@Northwesley I'm a fan of decentralization myself, but the same money put into small units will generate a lot less power. In most of the country, there isn't enough wind to make a windmill worthwhile anyway -- or at least anything other than intermittent, very expensive power. Just sticking one of these on your back yard is a poor use of money unless you live in a very windy spot, or you just want a toy to play with, or you just want a "green status symbol" for all to see.

I'm no fan of the big industrial wind turbines but this seems to hit the mark. If its affordable and it helps take individual residences and farms off the grid then I'm all for it. Improved energy consumption and water conservation should be a mission for the whole housing construction industry. Government money should go heavily towards reducing consumption at the residence and the business. We're subsidizing inefficient, expensive "Big Wind" - the same money in "small wind" is better.

There are many ways for bacterium to move and there is also the archaeal flagellum that is anlogous. Same out come but different engine. As to length you get to the law of diminishing returns. Too big and it uses more energy than the movement gives access to. You also hit a limit to "engine" power. All bits have costs and these have to be balanced by benefits.

If the evidence for design was there then people wouldn't be saying I can't see it. The evidence says there is no elephant apart from the imaginary one the ID folk want to be there. The bacterium doesn't have to mean to go anywhere as long as where it ends up is occasionally free of competing bacterium. I also said the nub was for anchoring. Would it be able to move anything? Why would evolution drive it to keep getting bigger? what is the advantage of a black water system with a septic tank over a composting toilet? I had a composting toilet at my previous home and built another from Adobe.... It needs no water and turns your waste into compost which in turn will nurish your soil..... The one i had didn´t smell at all and i live in a very hot country.... Black water systems seem very clever but if u have a septic tank full of waste you then have the task of emptying...? Why waste recycled grey water on flushing?

The issue is Mr Min Kyu Choi has chosen to ignore the requirements and designed a product which cannot be approved for sale. A number of award judges who should have known better got very excited about the design and made him a winner. Many people seem to think they cannot not live without one! But, it is just not going to reach the market.

As for the idea that the IET is urging change, where did you get that idea? There was an IET organized conference a couple of years ago which concluded that "both ring and radial final circuits have their place in a modern electrical installation and neither circuit layout should be used to the exclusion of the other" Rings remain the norm for domestic wiring in UK.

@fatallyflawed1947 something being installed later is not axiomatic to being better. The UK had extreme financial problems after the war and to save money the ring circuit was devised to my understanding. This was a way of supplying double the amperage whilst keeping the cost of copper down. Since this cheaper system did not allow for descrete protection of every dedicted circuit anymore since it was now essentially a bus (unlike a star config), the cheap alternative was to fuse each plug.

@trident3b The ring circuit has been the method of wiring power circuits in UK homes since the 1940s and has many advantages, You are right that it is the ring circuit which requires the use of fused plugs, and that is not going to change anytime soon. The ring circuit is actually a later method of house wiring than that used in other countries, so referring to it as outdated seems somewhat bizarre? Whatever, the UK system is as it is, and fortunately the regulations prevent unsafe gadgetry.

@trident3b Still confused it seems. RCDs operate on very low current imbalances to protect aginst the effect of electric shock when a body makes a circuit between a live connection and ground. Circuit breakers provide protection against overcurrent situations. The two devices are often mounted in the same distribution unit, and occasionally combined. Both devices have been used in UK for many years although the LEGAL requirement to use RCDs is more recent. Fused plugs are required in the UK.

Having lived in Germany nearly all my life I have seen the functionality of the trip circuits (which I believe you are referring to with RCD) and they protect, as you describe, but often also trip when user equipment is at fault (although the internal fuse of eg a radio which might be 1 amp is supposed to). It appears that UK spec ring circuits require the fused plugs because the UK still has such a vast number of way outdated ring circuits.

RCDs are very important, but have little to do with the subject under discussion. An RCD is the backstop defence if a person has come into contact with a live part. The first consideration is to prevent that, hence concern about a fuse holder which is removable while plugged in .

@M100S2 regarding the fuse in the plug, how is a 13 amp fuse going to make anything safe? You need 13 amps to burn that fuse. In which scenario does the plug fuse break? A human carrying 13 A will die. Re sleeves, they were introduced as UK wall sockets are dangerous as flat, not countersunk as here on continent. With a UK plug in the past it was poss' to touch the pins whilst still under power. Sleeves needed to be introduced. UK system no safer at all. 'Legacy installs" still very wide spread.

@trident3b The IET and the HSE (iirc) have published statistics that show that electrocutions and fires from fixed and movable wiring in the UK are very low and below that of most (all?) other 'western' nations. We moved to RCD's and MCB's a very long time ago although legacy installations still exist with fuses. Fuses in the plug, with shuttered sockets, sleeved pins and specific approval on every single plug design ensure that the plug / socket interface is as safe as it can be.
