FYI: Google analytic has also updated its tracking code..!!! old tracking code is still working but...new one is more effective..!!! as when i was using the old code...my data are not accurate..but once i switched to...new one...its working great..!!! i can see the detailed result now..!!! Seems like...Google is gearing up for fight against yahoo analytic!!!

I'll definitely agree with this, although non user-specific information can really assist with optimizing a user experience on a website. Even information about a user's browser can help a web developer tailor a site to their particular needs.

that is currently the only obstacle. If google could offer a service that distilled the reports into a written format thats worded in laymen's terms then that would help to remove the obstacle. This would save me a TON of time - I wind up doing these type of reports in excel and wasting time that could be better spent analyzing the data. I was so excited to check it out, but I don't have the feature yet! Whatever brain juice they're feeding you people in the analytics developer area is paying off. The video doesn't tell us anything apart from bounce rate equates to the number of people directed and who leave. What they are doing is closing annoying popup windows!!!! They are going to a site DIRECT as links do sometimes steal information. This method is 20 years out of date, look at reasons WHY people will click close and why they ignore pop-ups and adverts. That will answer the question about why no one stays on the sites.

he is wrong that bounce rate is a "one size fits all" metric. bounce is calculated as such: "Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page." Source: Google Help. thus, you could land on a 1 page rich media site, read for 30min, exit, which would produce a 100% bounce rate. yet the ave time on page is 30 min! bounce is contextually sensitive like any other metric.

Its a single pageview on your site within a visit session. Where a visit session is defined as either closing the browser window (not tab) or your session cookie expires within 30 minutes of inactivity on the site. If you have an E-commerce site you can confirm how bad bounce is by looking at your Visits to purchase report, if a majority of visitors buy within the first visit to your site. A high bounce rate indicates you are throwing money down the drain :(

Site loading slowly is exactly the reason why I have stopped using Google Analytics, as I want the sites to be as fast as possible to the end users. Of course if you guys could come with something a little faster or a module for Apache etc. to ensure the processing is done in background, rather than on the frontend, it would be great for webmasters like me.

if you use analytics, you are doing as he says, understanding the users intentions. google has access to all that data too, they most likely compile all data from accounts. i'm sure they use they use that data to either reinforce their assumptions, further some task, or use it to generate new assumptions. it's just a matter of what stage their in.

However, I think that if you could add this custumozing functionality to the standard reports shown by analytics, it would make the learning time and curstom report creation processes much faster. Perhaps you can alter your geo-targeting in Adwords and exclude this city if the bounce rate is too high. Alternatively you could see what language is common in this region. If you are sending visitors to an English language version of the page instead of say a French language page the bounce rate might be much higher.
